Australian Xbox 360 Pricing & Details

Here's the details (so-far) of the Australian release of the Xbox360:

Core System comes with: (AUD$499)
  • Silver Live
  • Wired controller
  • Faceplate
  • Standard AV cable
  • (plus you'd really need a Memory Unit to save stuff obviously; add $49)

  • Premium System comes with: (AUD$649)
  • Silver Live as well grrrr!!!
  • 20GB HDD
  • Wireless controller
  • Faceplate
  • Media remote
  • VGA HD AV cable.

  • Therefore, no online gaming is available out of the box! =(
No idea of pricing for 360 Gold Live (anyone?) but my current Xbox1 Live sub costs $79 per year fwiw..

Gold will have video chat, and all Silver registrations get a free 30-day trial period of Gold:

    Xbox Live Gold Membership:
  • Play your Xbox 360 multiplayer games online with the premiere online gaming service.
  • Use the brand new TrueSkill™ Matchmaking system to play against opponents with similar skills, personalities, and gaming tastes.
  • Give player feedback to rate your teammates and opponents on their sportsmanship, abilities, and conduct to influence matchmaking.
  • Play select original Xbox backward compatible games online (Xbox 360 Hard Drive is required to play original Xbox games).
  • Get access to exclusive Gold Member content.
  • Engage in video chat (scheduled for 2006).
  • Enjoy all the Xbox Live Silver features (below)

    Xbox Live Silver Membership:
  • Go online free of charge.
  • Register a unique gamertag and set up your individual gamer card to keep track of your gaming accomplishments.
  • Engage in one-on-one Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) and chat with your friends via the Xbox 360 Headset.
  • Preview Xbox Live Gold during free weekend trials.
  • Download auto updates and free downloads for your Xbox 360 games.
  • Access Xbox Live Message Center where you can send and receive voice and text messages from other members.
  • Compare gaming stats and achievements against other Xbox Live members.
  • Use your friends list to see who's online.

  • If you bought the 'Core' system, then upgraded gradually to the equivalent of the 'Premium' system, it'd cost you an extra $349.00 (ouch!!).
On top of the 'Core' price, that'd mean you've forked out $849.00 all up.. when you could've got it for $649.00 in the first place (extra $200.00 wasted).

    Yikes.

Here's the AUS numbers once again (cheers AJ):

I am 83% Video Game Addict.. oh dear.

I am 83% Video Game Addict.
    Total Video Game Junky!
I got a problem, man. I may not find the answer to life in a video game. I need to turn off the console or computer, go outside and try some reality for a change.

    What?
Just cos I've bought Call Of Duty 2 Big Red One, Battlefield 2 Modern Combat, Gun, King Kong, Beyond Good & Evil, SSX On Tour, Star Wars Battlefront, Operation Flashpoint Elite, Spartan Total Warrior, Far Cry Instincts, Goldeneye Rogue Agent, Xmen Legends, Bard's Tale, Devil May Cry 3, Half Life, Metal Slug 4, Unreal II, Kingdom Under Fire Heroes, Mortal Kombat Deception and Singstar 80's (all for either PS2 or Xbox) within the last month doesn't make me mental?

    Does it?

Anyhow, Xbox360 is due out shortly. That'll put an end to all the Xbox (orig) game buying yeh? *grin
